The Mandir - by Class Y1E
We could smell curry, papadoms and spicy food.
We saw Indian writing all bendy and curly.
We wrote Aum in the air using different imaginary colours.
We took off our shoes and washed our hands.
We heard the bell that was shiny and round like a light.
We saw a God with eight arms and wearing beautiful clothes.
Ganesha with a long trunk.
And the priest wearing special clothes and playing a beautiful shell.

SPRING TERM
The Y1 classes have been making collages of angels. The children were asked "What are Angels?". Jake replied "A kind of tooth fairy";
"What do Angels look like?" Pippa replied "they wear white dresses and have wings". Rayce and Sam said "they have white dresses with a headband. It has a stick and a round circle on top with white fluff on it. They have white wings and can fly"; "Angels look like my Grandpa" said Evie; Ellie's reply was "their clothes are white and sparkly"; Joel mentioned they only come out at night when people are asleep.

SUMMER TERM 2007
Following on from their visit to Poole's Cavern and Solomon's Temple the Y1 children have been writing poems:

Underground
Underground I found........... A colourful necklace with pattern and gold bits, for a princess. A bottle of seaweed with a silver lid, for a Prince Merman. A little marble for a baby or Jodie to play with. A rose, green, red and sparkly, for Robyn's best nannan. A bracelet with eyes on it, blue and silver, for Jessica's best friend. A key lock for a cellar. And a bottle of poison for a bad princess.

Underground
Underground I found............ A bottle of yellow juice or cream to make you feel better. A fossil purple and white, a queen's special rock. A hard fat egg, for a baby bird to be born from. A necklace, green, red and yellow, for a queen to wear. A bottle of aftershave, green, pink and white, for my dad. A flower brooch, pink and white and silver, with see through drops, for a bride to wear when she gets married. A key to wind up a clock. A wrist band for a queen. A lock for people in jail. And a marble, white, red and yellow.

Underground
Underground I found..................................
A skull, a skeleton head, peeping
up from behind a rock.
A rock that looked like a tiger.
A cavern and footpath blocked by
a rock fall.
Stalactites and stalagmites joined together.
A sparkly cream crystal as big as a
squashed giant.
This is what we found underground.
