The Y2 classes visited Peveril Castle and Treak Cliff Cavern in Castleton

on 7 October 2009.

First one class visited Peveril Castle while the other class went to Treak Cliff Cavern.  We found out lots of information about the castle: How old is the castle? Why is it where it is? Is it a good place for it?  Why?  The castle has never been attacked - why not?  We had to find the old fireplace, the toilet and looked at the keep.  Who would have lived there?  The views from the castle were stunning!

We left the castle and had our lunch in Cave Dale.  After lunch we changed over and visited Treak Cliff Cavern while the other class went to Peveril Castle.  The guide talked to us about stalactites and stalagmites, limestone, fossils and Blue John.
