Our guide at the Hindu Mandir was Seema Buttoo of the Interfaith Education Centre, whose job includes talking to children about the things Hindus do and believe.
On the return journey, we stopped at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, and spent a little time looking at some of the exhibits which have a connection with our visit to the Mandir (for example, comparing a granite sculpture by Ronald Rae of an elephant with the Hindu God of Good Luck and Wisdom, Ganesha); and at the semi-abstract figurative sculptures of William Turnbull and other figurative work which may find an echo in the children's own experience and imagination.
