Celebrating the Chinese New Year of the Ox
Our celebration began with an assembly led by Year 1D. They told us the story of the Year of the Ox with shadow puppets.

After the assembly, children decided to make a dragon.

We looked at books about

FS were interested in the Chinese writing and numbers.

Following a story from

We danced in the hall to Chinese music with scarves. We made magic paintbrushes in response to the Chinese story “The Magic Paintbrush” by Julia Donaldson.

We took turns to play the triangle to accompany a poem, “Red Dragonfly”. We danced to a different piece of Chinese music.
Choosing to write menus in the role play area and looking closely at Chinese masks.
We danced with our Chinese dragon.
