Class R2 set off to Beacon Wood wondering whether the fairies would still be there after all the rain? We found out that the fairies were not in Beacon Wood but wondered who this den belonged to?
Harry thought a fairy had left her wings inside it. The children worked together to build new dens for the fairies.
We became colour hunters, looking closely at the colours in the wood and made a bookmark with our collections.
We played the string game ‘web of life’ to learn how everything
in the wood is connected.
We had a fantastic time at Beacon Wood. Here are comments the children made about the visit:
Callum: I enjoyed building the dens.
Amy: I loved collecting the things for my bookmark.
Austin: I love squelching through mud, playing the string game and making dens.
Back at school the children had a philosophy session discussing “if a tree fell down in Beacon Wood and there was nobody there to hear it would it still make a noise?”
Jack thought it would still make a noise but Connie wondered if you could hear a tree fall in muddy soil.
