There are fairies in Beacon Wood!
Once again, Foundation Stage visited Beacon Wood. For some of the children it was their second visit, for those who started in January, their first visit.
The children were encouraged to look very closely at the shapes of the trees and draw them using charcoal.
Back in school the children took turns to talk about the changes in the wood that they had noticed.
So what were the January children doing in the wood?
The visit involved your child in looking closely at the woodland environment using many of their senses. The children were learning to work together to find items in the wood. They also had to trust each other when playing the game meet a tree.

Comments made by the children after the visit included:
Harry: We drew the trees with a black stick and there were no leaves on the trees because it’s not Autumn
Matthew: There wasn’t any bluebells, we saw a bit of a bumpy tree. I loved building the house for the fairies.
Zach: We saw a fossil tree cut down, the leaves were different colours.
Charles: The leaves weren’t on the trees because it’s Spring. Some of the tree branches were chopped down. I love walking.
Charlie: We saw little flowers coming up but there weren’t there last time.
Freya: The grass has changed, now it’s green.
Aaron: I like feeling the tree.
Elle: I like playing with the blindfold, my tree was rough.
Mollie: I like the game find the tree.
Ruby: I liked it when we were finding things for the envelope.
David: I liked going in the fairy’s house.
