10 Nov 2008 - November Newsletter 2008

We finished the first half term with a wonderful ‘Book at Bedtime’ pyjama party. All the staff read their favourite stories to different classes and Mr Payne came in to take part in the celebration. Following his visit he wrote a wonderful letter to the children which we are sending home also. This week we will be celebrating the end of Book at Bedtime month in an assembly. Thank you to all the parents for supporting this and enjoying reading to your children.

I am also sending home a copy of the inspection report which took place on the 16th October. This was a 1 day visit to look at ‘creative learning’. Fifteen schools in the country were inspected. Our school was chosen because this was identified as a strength in the previous inspection.

Our ‘Take One Picture’ work is continuing into this half term – this year we are using the picture ‘The Castle of Muiden in Winter’ by Jan Beerstraaten. Our whole school topic is colour and light. In science classes will be focusing on electricity and in RE we will study different festivals of light.

We are looking forward to an exciting half term.

Please ensure your child is brought to school with a coat every day. We do go outside for playtime unless it is very heavy rain and although it may be nice weather in the morning often by playtime it can become colder or wet.

May I remind you that dogs are not to be brought into the school grounds at any time during the school day or into the garden/school field after school.

Parents and volunteers in school. Any parents, carers or family relations wishing to come and help in school are required to complete a criminal records check. If you think at any time you may be able to come into school please call at the school office for a form. These take a little while to process so it is worth completing one in advance.

Uniform for sale and to order (fleeces and coats) on 13.11.08 between 9 and 10am and 2 and 3pm .

PARKING

Please ensure that when brining children to school you adhere to the parking restrictions outside school. This is essential to ensure the safety of all children, especially now that there is no crossing warden. Please ensure that grandparents who may only bring children occasionally are also aware that parking is not permitted outside the front of school where the solid white line runs down the middle of the road.
