7 Sep 2008 - September Newsletter 2008

Welcome back to all the children in Year 1 and 2, and a special welcome to the children who are starting at our school for the first time this week.

We are looking forward to an exciting half term. Each class will be thinking up their own class name during the first few days - look out for class names and even class songs!

This half term we will be having a topic based around Take 1 Picture.

IMPORTANT

Please check the information on the school data sheet and then sign and return to school as soon as possible, making any necessary amendments.

School Photographer  - Thursday 23rd October

Individual photos.   For ease of administration we will have individual photos taken of all children, there is no obligation to buy photos even if they are taken. Photos are sent home on a sale or return basis.  If you want a family photograph (i.e. with younger siblings) please wait in the hall from 8.45.  Please let us know if you want anything other than an individual of family photograph. Thank you.

PARENT GOVERNOR

We have a vacancy for a parent Governor. If you would like to join the Governing body please drop me a line as an expression of interest. If you would like to discuss the role please call the Chair of Governor Peter Butler on 2340058

Just a reminder about classes and class initials

Foundation Stage is Mrs Butler (RB) Mrs Billingsley R2.

Year 1 is Miss Duff (1D) and Mrs Ashley/ Mrs Revitt (1AR)

Year 2 is Mrs Smith (2S) and Mrs Exton (2E)

It is very helpful when parents use the correct class initial on reply slips - thank you.

Attendance & Punctuality

Please remember it is school policy not to authorise absences

  •  in the first two weeks of term i.e. 1st to 10th September
  •  if your child has had more than 10 days holiday
  • if their attendance is less than 90%
  •  if the holiday falls during SATs. (the first 3 weeks in May)

Please help your child to make a settled and positive start to each day by arriving by 9.00.   Staff are in classes from 8.50. if your child arrives late this will be recorded in the register and repeated lateness will be followed up.  Equally please ensure that you are at school on time to collect your child. Please let the class teacher know if different adults are collecting your child.
